We hope to see you there. Oh, and we are goign to have hot food on offer, so you dont need to have your evening meal, have it with us. It will be meat but it might not be halal but we will endeavour to find out what we can do about this :-)

Proposals for an Allotment Group

Are you interested in forming an allotment group for all those who have a plot on Derby Street? This can be formed under the Heeley Rise Tenants and Residents Association, and we can become affiliated to the Heeley and District Allotments Society.

Allotments Officers now have an increasing focus and expectation of more of our land being cultivated, which means the plots of Derby Street will no longer be useable as leisure gardens but that 75% is expected to be cultivated plots with regular food growing.

The land we use is particularly difficult given the quarry and rock outcrops we experience, but the allotments team are on hand to give advice and support to help us through. Regularly meetings will enable us to swap seeds, swap crops and discuss ideas and problems. From time to time we're sure an allotments officer will be free to join us in our discussions.

It is proposed that this group will be granted a right to form under the TARA as a separate group at the TARA's next general meeting on the 17th November, from 6:30pm, at the Heeley Community Centre. Do come along and join us.
